The ACA holds an annual convention, usually in July. The ACA Convention features cichlid experts as speakers, a competitive cichlid show, an auction of cichlids, and opportunities to meet other cichlid hobbyists. This weekend-long event is the highlight of the year and is usually attended by 600 or more people.

The 2008 Annual Convention will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on July 17-20, 2008
