ACA News, Volume 2, #2

Editor: Alan R.De Angelo
Greetings and Salutations!

February is a time where not much happens besides getting anxious for the onslaught of Spring. So, as you kick back, relax and take it easy, your fish should be getting spoiled by you having free time to spend with them. That is, unless, you are still digging-out of the feet of snow that fell in some parts of the country. The warmer weather cannot come too fast for you. Even some folks in Florida had been complaining about the sweater weather that they call winter. We all have our burdens to carry.

I was just at the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association’s Swap Meet yesterday. Wow, what a crowd! I made my usual walk through, stopping to see friends, catch up on what’s new in their lives, piscatorial and otherwise, and looking at what’s available. Malawi cichlids are still king in this part of the country with them being the vast majority of sale items.

Speaking of Lake Malawi, I made my usual stop by Mike Schadle’s book display and picked up a copy of Ad Konings latest masterpiece The Cichlids of Lake Malawi National Park. This should be a welcome addition to your library. I have only had a chance to glance through it but I know that I will absorb it in its entirety over the next few nights. You can get a copy of it from cichlidpress.com direct or from Mike Schadle, [email protected]. Mike, as most of you know, is at most major fish events in the Midwest and beyond. Both Ad and Mike are great supporters of the ACA.

The Website is Back! (and mobile-friendly)

The ACA website has been fully rebuilt by Juan Miguel Artigas Azas with a little assistance from Daryl Hutchins on the Newsletter Archive (yes, you don’t have to search your e-mails for an old AN any more, just check on the website) and no doubt others pitched-in where required. The site is somehow blended into the Cichlid Room Companion platform for smooth and easy upkeep.

This leads us to the only Proposition brought before the BOT …

BOT Proposal

Prop 16-1: To accept Juan Miguel Artigas Azas’ proposal for website development, hosting, etc. at $1500. PASSED
