Tardy greetings and salutations!

If this August newsletter does not arrive in the month of August, it is not our esteemed Publisher’s fault. I have been too busy having fun to write it. And, if you believe that, I have some swamp land to sell …

August is a pretty slow time of year for a lot of people. The summer is winding down. The kids are getting ready to be shipped off to school and the fishing rods are beginning to gather dust after the annual pilgrimage to your favorite body of water. You may even begin to pay a little more attention to the fish, giving them a bit more TLC. Whatever your routine, the colder weather is coming.

It’s also the start of hurricane season and our hearts and prayers go out to those people in the Houston area, experiencing such devastation. If you look back in history, the town of Galveston was wiped out in 1900 by a hurricane. I’ll take the MidWest, a little cold, a little snow but nothing devastating.

🎏 Trading Post

The new on-line Trading Post should be arriving in your In Box under the heading “Active Cichlid Offers”. The only way to get this system up and running is with utilization by YOU! Please list your “Haves” and “Wants.” The cool thing is that you can find a photo of the fish for sale in the CRC and use it in the ad. If you have a type or variant that is not listed, please mention that in the comment section.

πŸ‘ͺ Membership

The ACA is growing! Our membership numbers are steadily growing.

Things take time. One of the reasons this issue of the AN is so late is that I was hoping to bring you the news about our new Membership/Donation schedule. Life Membership is back (see below), as well as a way to easily help contribute to cichlid research and conservation. It is still in the works so I would be premature if I told you about. The next issue of the ACA News will contain this information. It will also provide you with a list of the new conservation projects and research projects that the ACA is involved with.

Keep the people of Houston in your thoughts.

All for now.

Alan
