– 2024 Woman of the Year in Florida Agriculture

Congratulations to Sandy Moore, President at Segrest Inc. or, as we better know it, Segrest Farms, who was just recognized as the "2024 Woman of the Year in Florida Agriculture." Way to go Sandy! Not only does Sandy run the largest fish farm in Florida, she fights the good fight by challenging the innumerable lawsuits brought about attacking the aquatics/pet industry and our hobby. Kudos to Sandy for being … awesome!

It’s no secret that I unabashedly love convict cichlids. I think that they are the greatest cichlid around for the study of parental behaviors. They are feisty little bundles of energy, action and scrappiness. What’s not to love? I want to share a video with you shared by Willem Heijns on FB. ACA-CON 2024

The 2024 Convention speakers have been confirmed and it’s nice to see some of our favorites as well as some new faces enter the scene. The speakers are Jeremy Basch, Sam Borstein, Melanie Stiassny, Dan Hodnett, Lawrence Kent, Rich Bierbower, Ad Konings, Ron Coleman and Gabe Posada. What a great lineup.

I hope you made your reservations as rooms are going fast. Remember, a music festival is also going on at the same time. ACA has reserved a whole gaggle of rooms but once those run out, rooms may be hard to find. Be sure to register, too: convention.cichlid.org has everything you need to have a fantastic weekend of fish, fun and friends.

Don’t forget, the fish show will contain both Catfish and Cichlids so get your finny charges entered.
