Greetings and thawing salutations.
I just returned from northern MN where the walleyes were co-operative but the weather was not. After a gorgeous week of mid-70s, I arrived and the temperatures plummeted to highs in the 50s. Ah, well, it’s the luck of the draw in Spring, isn’t it?
Convention
I also want to warn you that while a common symptom of Covid is the lack of taste, you may hear some tasteless jokes at the convention, it is not related. People have been cooped-up for too long and want to break loose. Have fun but, again, use common sense.
Wayne Leibel
Many people asked if there is a way to donate to the ACA in the name of Wayne Leibel, like they did for Phil Benes. Yes, you can donate (via PayPal) by going to the ACA website and finding the donation section. If you scroll down a bit, you will see Jay Wilson’s mug looking back at you, just to the right of him is a donation button (or click here ❤).
Wayne was, for many years, the keeper of the Guy Jordan Fund. You may wish to make a donation specifically to that fund. You could also donate to the Paul V. Loiselle Fund for conservation. The Special Allocation Fund goes to fund projects that the ACA gets involved with and supports, don’t forget that, either. Lastly, the General Fund is always an option that goes to the day-to-day operation of the ACA and its programs.
Please make a notation, on the donation, with the dedication, in other words, add Wayne’s name and the fund you prefer to donate to on the check or other payment.
I have been asked to include the following obituary about Wayne, may he find the Big Fishroom in the Sky full of sand-sifting cichlids:

Robert J. Goldstein
If anyone has any photos of Dr Bob Goldstein, could you please send them to me at [email protected]. His good friend, Richard Stratton, is writing an article about him but we are short on photographs. Thanks.
BB #309 just came out and it also carries sad news for the Apistogramma world. Mark McMaster has passed away. It’s getting to be a rough few months around the cichlid world. Hopefully, I won’t have to write any more of these notices for a long, long time to come.
Elections
Don’t forget that the ACA needs nominations to fill the ranks of the BOT. Five (5) positions are up for election this year. Send your short bios to Daryl, or me at: [email protected].
That’s enough for now. Don’t forget the convention and register today.
Have a great month and I’ll be back next month with hopefully happy news.
Take care,
– Alan

Not a very long newsletter … so you have plenty of time to sit down and write an article, or two, for BB. We can’t wait to read it.
